Women on Mission

We are an arm of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Women’s Missionary Union (WMU) established in 1888 for the purpose of praying for and sharing information about missionaries. WMU/WOM is the largest protestant mission’s organization for women in the world. It’s origin at Madison Baptist Church dates back to 1927.
The current ministries are Baptist Nursing Fellowship, Christian Men’s Job Corps, Christian Women’s Job Corps, International Initiatives, Missionary Housing, Project Help, Pure Water, Pure Love and World Crafts.
WMU/WOM challenges Christian believers to understand and be radically involved in the mission of God.
Our objectives are to: pray for missions, engage in mission action and witnessing, learn about missions, support missions, develop spiritually toward a missions lifestyle, and participate in the work of the church and denomination.

We have annual projects such as the Annie Armstrong and Lottie Moon offerings and studies, sponsorship of a classroom in Haiti, and Backpacks for Appalachia.  We regularly devote time to learning about missions around the world, hearing from guest missionaries, and praying for missionaries on their birthdays.  We even have a birthday party each July to celebrate missionaries birthdays.

We meet on the second Monday of each month at 2:00 in Room 101.  Women, come join us in missions work!
