Job Posting: Director of Operations

Principal Function:  The Director of Operations is responsible for managing the operations of the church and its ministries in a smooth and efficient manner, enabling the church staff and church membership to achieve their objectives. The Director of Operations works closely with the Senior Pastor in the development and execution of church and church staff goals. Job responsibilities span a number of areas to greater or lesser degrees: church operations, communications, fiscal oversight, records management, vendor management, and administrative support.

The Director of Operations will be committed to the ministry of Madison Baptist Church, not only its operations. As the administrative staff leader, the primary objective is to bring ease of operation to the primary ministries of the church: worship, discipleship, family ministry, missions, and community service. As such, the Director of Operations will be actively involved in supporting each of these ministries in both attitude and actions. The Director is expected to champion and assist in the strategic execution of the ministries and mission of Madison Baptist Church.

Position Type: Full-Time

Core Responsibilities:

  1. CHURCH OPERATIONS
    • Assists the Senior Pastor in administrating the operation of the church.
    • Coordinates with the Operations Committee on matters pertaining to the building and grounds of Madison Baptist Church.
    • Ensure all operations are undertaken in full compliance with the Constitution and Bylaws of Madison Baptist Church.
    • Assists committees in their work in accordance with proper committee policy and procedures.
    • Ensures all physical needs are met for the congregation and church staff (directly or by delegation): ordering office supplies, communion elements, kitchen and bathroom supplies, Sunday School curriculum, etc.
    • Work with professional ministry staff, program leaders, and other church activity leaders to assign classroom or church facility space and equipment as needed.
    • Ensure safety and security protocols for the church are met.
  2. COMMUNICATIONS
    • The Director of Operations works among committees, trustees, deacons, Church Council and church staff. They are the primary point of contact for meeting minutes, church calendaring, space reservation, etc. He or she ensures there is no conflict of goals, responsibilities, or schedule between the various groups.
    • Prepare or supervise the preparation of relevant documentation for committee and deacons meetings as needed, as well as collect minutes after the meeting.
  3. FISCAL OVERSIGHT
    • Assists in distribution of year-end giving statements related to tithes and offerings to all givers at the close of the fiscal year.
    • Serves as a point of contact for In-Rhythm Consulting.
  4. RECORDS MANAGEMENT
    • Assists clerk in maintaining accurate MBC membership records.
    • Retains finalized records for meetings of deacons, church committees, trustees, church council, etc.
    • Maintains up-to-date Constitution and Bylaws.
    • Maintains church board/committee roster, terms, and contact directory.
  5. VENDOR MANAGEMENT
    • Contact point for non-financial vendor relationships.
    • Communicate with Operations Committee chairperson re: regular business partners throughout the community (termite, lawn, HVAC, etc.) as needs arise.
  6. ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT
    • Assist the Pastor in matters related to church staff administration.
    • Coordinates non-financial human resources efforts for MBC employees, primarily dealing with personnel policies and record-keeping.
    • Receive relevant documentation for quarterly Church Council and monthly Deacon’s Meetings.
    • Provide church financial, personnel, and/or membership records as needed to church leadership.

Other Duties and Requirements:

  • Active church membership and participation at Madison Baptist Church OR a church of like faith and practice is required.
  • Ensures all vehicle paperwork and maintenance is up to date (insurance, registration, etc.)
  • Communicates with community churches on cooperative efforts as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
  • Reception to continue professional development training.
  • Background check required.
  • Live within Morgan or surrounding counties

Qualifications:

  • A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and clear understanding of the Christian faith is essential for this position.
  • A clear commitment to serve Madison Baptist Church;
  • Strong administrative, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Knowledge and proficiency with general office equipment (e.g., digital phone system, copy machine, folding machine, etc.) or ability to learn office technology quickly.
  • Ability to work in a positive, efficient, effective, and independent manner, as well as in team-based settings.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Good customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
